The Naughty-or-Nice Film Festival begins on Friday, November 22, 2024. Participating teams must complete their 5-minute holiday film and upload it by Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. EST, along with all release forms and registration fees to qualify for the public screening and awards.
Team Members:
- Anyone can join, with a $15 one-time participation fee, regardless of the number of teams you join.
- Late members can join anytime by completing payment and registration.
Film Requirements:
- Length: 5 minutes (plus up to 15 seconds for required end credits).
- Credits: Opening credits are part of the 5-minute duration; ending credits must list all cast and crew and can be up to 15 seconds.
- Upload by December 16, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. EST.
- Format: 1080p, Stereo, MP4 or MOV, 16:9 aspect ratio.
- File Label: TeamName_FilmName.
- Each team member must sign a release form.
Film Content & Rating:
- Filmmakers have creative freedom. Content may include nudity, adult language, or violence within legal limits.
- Harm to people, animals, or property during filming will result in disqualification.
Required Elements:
Each team will draw from 4 stockings at the kick-off party to receive their required elements:
- Sub-genre (type of holiday film your team will make)
- Conflict (main problem in your film)
- Miracle (A miracle that must happen; does not need to be the solution to your problem)
- Location (location that must be seen in your film at least once; even if it’s on a TV screen, in a photo OR in the background of your film)
Resources:
- Teams have access to studio locations and other resources to support their filmmaking.
Etiquette:
- Maintain professionalism and respect for all participants. Disrespectful behavior will lead to disqualification.
Volunteers:
- All cast and crew must be volunteers.
Safety:
- Films causing harm to people, animals, or property will be disqualified.
Music:
- Ensure all music and sound effects have the appropriate rights or licenses.
Judges & Awards:
- Films will be judged on creativity, quality, and adherence to guidelines. Late submissions will not be considered for awards. Awards include “The Hootie” for Best Film and the Audience Choice Award.
Eligibility:
- Films must be original and follow the festival’s guidelines.
Disqualification:
- Non-compliant entries will be disqualified.
